Steppe Cashmere was founded by a Mongolian knitwear designer and her Hungarian co-founder.

After moving to Europe, she found herself returning to her nomadic roots. Cashmere, one of Mongolia’s most valuable materials, is obtained through those same nomadic methods, and she longed to build something that carried that heritage forward. Together, they set out to bring that vision to Europe, combining her knowledge of cashmere with his understanding of the European market. 

The brand is built on years of hands-on experience within Mongolia’s cashmere industry. That experience shaped not only a deep understanding of cashmere, but the standards we believe every exceptional garment should meet.

We work exclusively with a trusted Mongolian manufacturer with over 20 years of expertise in cashmere production.

Every stage of production, from spinning to knitting, sewing, and finishing, is closely quality controlled. It takes patience, precision, and expertise to create a piece that lasts.

Our collection stays intentionally small: a handful of core styles, each offered across a limited range of natural colorways. Rather than expanding for the sake of variety, we hold to what the material and the craftsmanship can support well.

The name Steppe Cashmere is inspired by the vast grasslands of Mongolia, where cashmere goats have roamed for centuries. It reflects the landscape and heritage behind every piece in our collection.
